Parting out 62 Pontiac Catalina 425A AUTOMATIC CAR - PHS verified 1 of only 32 built and possibly the only survivor. Is an easy restore, but no one wants it complete, only parts.
Found on ebay, thinking of emailing the guy to see if he would still sell the car in one piece. Maybe he means a 421?

Hey Patti: The 425 may be torque - Here is the link to an HPP article you might want to check out.

Patti and gang my brother had a 62 Bonniville convertable with the 425A engine, auto 4barrel carb 3.23 gears .He special ordered it. It was a screamer for its size! 389 cubic in. 333 horsepower 425A==425 foot lbs torqu A degisnated altered Was blue printed and balanced from factory, special block code, block was beefed up in the crank area and extra bracing in the lifter area, hydraulic non pump up lifters, screw in rocker studs instead of pressed, froged steel crank, with special log exhaust manifolds(they were different than the regular ones on all other cars)and a heavy duyt starter. So yes it would be sought after by some Pontiac people!
I think that year the starter mountedto the bellhousing. I think it was 63 or 64 when they started mounting the starter on the block.

Honestly, I don't know if I would buy it. Properly restored it could be worth a bunch but it would also cost a small fortune - so disposable cash would be one issue (ah, now that I think about it all cash is disposable or at least I don't have any problem getting rid of it). The next issue is the space to work on it and store it when I can't work on it, and I just don't have the room. But you know all of these things. If it is in decent restorable shape (you know crawling all over it and looking for rust, etc.) and if you you think you can get all the parts you need, it would be fun and lots of it and you would have another cool ride.

Just my 2 cents My parents had a 1962 Catalina Converible with a 389 and Tri-Power. Wish I had it today. In 1963 I took my driver license test on it.

Those '62 SD Cats are the only cars I've actually dreamed of owning. MMM- White with blue interior, four speed please. Make mine Grandma fresh. Restoring one of those could be a great challenge.

Well, it is not a SD, but, there were only 32 of them made. I wish I could afford to buy it. He wants $15K for it. If I hit the lotto, it would be mine. OMG, it would be a dream!! If you are interested, let me know. It is like the that Milt posted the link to.

We expect donuts if you win Powerball - and I hope you do! If I can't win just knowing someone that did would make me happy.

BTW - He may be asking 15K but the economy is bad all over and I wouldn't be afraid to make a low ball offer. I would kind of be like winning the Loto.
