Help picking out a cam! Poncho 400

Hey guys im new to this site , i have a 1979 Regal with a 1977 Poncho 400. It has 6x heads 2.11 1.77 w/1.65 roller rockers mile porting and .30 TRW Forged Pistons. Performer RPM manifold , and i will be buying a 750 Vacuum Sec Holly Carb ....
I need to pick a cam and figured i could surely use some help ....
It has a 041 Ram Air IV Cam and i have a dyno sheet from Kens Speed Shop that shows 428HP/437TRQ but when i bought it , it had a bad tranny ... I had that rebuilt and the motor over heated slightly and was making a funny noise ... I ripped the motor and found broken spring retainers and the lifters were pounded real bad ....
I dont know if it was the cam choice or the motor was worn out but it was not drag raced and only had about 6k miles on it ... It ran like a dog but i drive a S10 Xtreme 4.3 that clocks high 15's with a 4.3 V6 and it dont feel much faster ....
I am trying to achive 12's in the quarter if possible ... The RA IV ran 15.30 spinning on radials and fell on its face around 4-4500rpms ... I coudl use any advice in cam choice .... I cant afford to buy eldebrock alum heads now but i will later and want a cam that will work good now and even better when i upgrade the heads ... If thats possible ...
Anyhow , i look forward to learning more about Pontiacs ...
here is a video of my car ....

and a few pictures .....

Cool Buiac...or is that Pontiick? Our very own Pontiacman8 will love this one, he has a 350 Pontiac powered Regal. Tell us about the rest of the combo, what gears are out back? What trans and converter? We need to know what the stamped suffix number is on the 6X heads, it's stamped on a pad right below the valve cover bolt. It will tell us what size chambers you have and will be either a 4 or an 8. Then we can figure out what compression ratio you have so we can get a better idea of what cam is best. Nice clean ride! Lots of attention to detail from what I can see, very nice. Steve
A little help... 'cause we don't all have to learn the hard way!

Nice another 79 Regal , I might have to talk to you once i get this motor done about weight transferring the regals, If you have figured them out yet?
Well it has 3:42 Gears in it now but i know its going to be hard to make it in the 12's on motor with 3:42 gears ... I will surely step them up... I could go 4:11 but would prefer 3:73 but i can do either one ...
I have the heads off in my garage , i will go look right now..

Ok those are advertised as 91CC so they will give a CR of around 8-8.5:1SCR and that will limit you to a smaller camshaft. If that goal of 12's is a must you will need to get the CR up more than that.

The heads were shaved and pistons are .30 TRW Forged .. The engine builder ( Kens Speed Shop) said the compression was 9.5:1 on the build sheet .. Im no expert and still learning alot ... Is that possible with these heads?
BTW Nice Regal , whats it running in 1/4 mile and whats under the hood?

Was the block surfaced or decked as well and if so how much?
Ya close to 9.5:1SCr is possible but those heads would have to be shaved to the max. around .050 and the gasket would have to be pretty thin as well. Not the best way to raise the CR.
My regal has run a best of 12:42 it has a 365CI (350 bored .060) Pontiac engine in it.

I ran this Crane Cams in my 68 Bird years back. Ran 11.80's with 3.73 gears. 3250 lbs with me in it. Probably one of the best cams I ever ran in a Pontiac.

Do your self a favor and cc the heads. Also was the block decked. Notice any mods to intake manifold to heads surface?

X2, you'll want to verify the build specs before you get anything.
