Looking for a floor shift steering column for a 1962 Bonneville. I found one online for a 1963 GP. Can anybody tell me if a 63 steering column fit in a 62?
Thanks

What I've seen says 1956-1962 are the same .You need someone with a Hollander interchange book .

Thanks ... is there anybody on this site with one? Am willing to pay a few bucks for the info rather than risk several hundred on the unknown.

redbul: Thanks for the offer but unless I know without a doubt that it will fit I'll pass for now. I just may end up shelling out the $$ for a set of books since nobody seems to know.

In the good old days we just sawed off the shifter boss bondoed the hole shut smoothed it up, paint to match all good. Did it lots back then. 20.00. If you pull the part off any body shop could do it for you.

Hollander interchange books cost a lot of money .You might be able to download a book . I should have saved the old books when I worked in a salvage yard in the 70's .Maybe you can call a old yard up and ask them if it would fit . I think you need the 31st printing .  http://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Hollander-Interchange-Manual-31st-Edition-1939-1965-Parts-Book-VIN-decoder-/160855101691?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item2573b610fb&vxp=mtr#ht_500wt_1414

Jim: I had considered that but I'd rather not hack it up.

Jack: The 1954 - 1966 manuals are only $50 when you buy them from Hollander. I'll probably just go ahead and buy them and if it turns out others may need help I'll have some info.

I have the 44th edition (1968-1978) but it does not cover steering columns.

Check at Gary's Classics. Net. You should google it. I'm not exactly sure of the web address spelling. They rebuild musclecar columns with a lifetime guarantee. I came across them while searching for a tilt column for my Tempest.
