I have a 68 Firebird with the correct 8.2 BOP posi rear. My buddy has a 68 Camaro 10 boltl rear with 3:90 gears that he no longer needs as he is swapping out for a 12 bolt rear.
My question is what's involved if I swap rears? Is this a direct swap or are there any hidden changes? Has anyone done this swap?

Should be a direct swap. Do both cars have multi-leaf springs? You may need to fab brackets to the Camaro rearend if your Firebird has the torque arms. Check to see if the yoke for the rear u-joint is compatible. Otherwise it should bolt-in. Steve
A little help... 'cause we don't all have to learn the hard way!

Yes both cars have multi leaf springs. I don't have torque arms on my Firebird. I figured the rears would be a direct fit, I was mostly concerned with the driveshaft fitting. I'm not interested in this swap if I have to customize my driveshaft or find a new one.

10 Bolt direct swap.
12 Bolt is also a direct swap.

They make u-joints that step, so anything should work.
