Thought I would sign and see how many of these cars there are out there.   Just aquired a 1970 GT37,   400 4 spd.  Appears to be correct RAIII block and Muncie M20.  Will begin to work on in a few weeks when the snow melts, and will see how good my find was. Can't seem to see a way to post pics here,  but will when I figure out.  Look forward to talking Pontiacs with you all.

hello 1970gt37

Welcome, I have never heard of one so I looked it up online and found the url listed below with an explanation. It says you could also buy a 71 four door with a 455 ho 335 hp motor. Man I would love to have one of those but your's will do fine for me too. What did it set you back if you don't mind saying? Doesn't matter just fun to hear about any rare find at any price.

I checked out the hemmings article,  thanks.   I think they were talking about the  Tempest T-37 four doors being new that year,  I am pretty sure the big engines were available with GT-37 option,  which was on the two door sedan and hardtops.   But you could order anything from factory back then by having the dealer check the right boxes. A 4 door 455HO would be extremely rare - but may be out there..?Who knows?  I response to what I picked the car up for - $4300 needing rear quarters and interior work.  Would be worthy of a frame-off,  but isn't in the budget right now.  Mechanically seems all there but it is a project.

Hello 1970gt37

Yes I reread the article again and it does specify gt37 not t37 for the motor upgrades. I too know just like you do that you could pretty much oreder any motor in any car by checking the boxes. I used to go to the dealer often with my dad back then when he'd order a new car. Very cool.

It's a shame not to do a frame off on that car but then you couldn't drive it much and as you say it's very costly. That car would bring huge dollars a Barrett Jackson.

I would think your motor and trans alone are worth more than that.

What options, buckets, posi, ps, tach, etc.

Did you look for the "build sheet" under the carpet or in the springs of the back seat?

Can you get PHS doc's on that model?

Welcome aboard, 1970GT37.

Theres a really nicely restored one in my area, got these pics at a show. If memory serves me correctly, this one is rare due to a 400 3 speed bench setup. I caught him on the highway one day with my 69 GP but couldn't get a stomp out of them. Wife in seat so I just got a smile and wave. But this car is extremely well-done, near perfect as they get. Pontiac was smart in those years, offering lots of choices in between grandpa cars and rowdy hot rods.

T-37 Boy that is a nice car. Just do a little at a time and you'll get there. Cut out the rust and weld in patches mud it up. The snow has melted enough to get mine out of the garage. Now it's just time I need.

Thanks for the replies...I do have the dealer order with the VIN and all of the options called out,  as far as I know this about all that PHS supplies you other than a "dummied up" option sheet.
All Gt-37's were pretty lightly optioned cars.  Mine had GT37 stripes, 400 / 4 speed, floor mats, am radio and black interior trim option - Thats All !!!!
yes it is tempting to want to hit up the 401K for the bucks,  but I'm thinking basic quarters / paint / interior and spend the rest of the money on GAS !

Thanks for the reply and pics of the 71. I LOVE that color!  Q: How are you pasting pics to your replies ?  Can't figure out how to post any pics on this site

Ya,  ALL GT-37's had the bench seat. Mine came with bench and Muncie 4 speed !
It now has buckets from a early 70's firebird, and a firebird 160MPH speedometer.
Looks like it has seen some quarter mile action - has battery cables still run to the passenger side trunk. Can't wait to drop in a new battery and fresh juice, and see how she growls!

That red 1970 is VERY JUDGELIKE ! and what the Judge was supposed to be from the start.  Mine is a dark blueish color now, but was built in a wheat straw (beige) color, with black interior.  I think I am going the blue like the 71 that was posted earlier.  I can post some pics if someone can tell me how to attach them on this site....

Heres what I do:

Upload the pics/vids to a free hosting site (I use photobucket.com) them cut n paste the IMG code here. Doesn't work in the quick reply box, so use "Post Reply" or "Reply to thread".

Heres a cut-n-paste on the subject:

"How To Post A Picture".

Here are easy and clear instructions on how to post a picture on this forum.

1. Since we don't support direct image uploads to our forums, you must upload your images somewhere else and link them to our forums. Don't worry, it's not as scary as it sounds. I recommend using Photobucket as your image upload host.

2. Once you have created an account with a picture uploading website, it is time to upload your pictures and then copy each images IMG code and paste it into the thread where you want the image to show. I suggest you use reply and not quick reply, to post pics.

3. All that is left to do is preview your code, to make sure your image works and you're done. Just hit "post" and it will show up instantly.

One thing I forgot to mention, is if you create a readers ride account and upload your pictures there you can also link pictures. It's done a little differently. Right click and view the image. Once you have done so copy the url bar text and click on the . Paste your url text and your done.

Recommend Width is 640 pixels

Hope this makes it a bit easier for readers to post pics

thanks mpayne

Yeah I was thinking that the blue one was a '71, wasn't sure. The T-37 and GT-37s always made me look a lot longer than the GTOs did, just more unusual I guess. Always liked the "value-oriented" but less popular and still sporty good looking versions of cars.

About pics- unlike some forums but like all the Source Interlink magazines' forums, this forum does not allow "attachments". In other words you can't upload the picture to the post. It has to be uploaded somewhere else first then you link to it. The image can appear if you use the correct link. Some free photo hosting sites create this "IMG" code for you when you upload. Cut n paste that here (don't use the "quick reply" box, it don't work there) where you normally type then click "preview" to see if your image shows up. Then click post as usual.

In the "Reader's Rides" section of this website you can upload pics of your ride, then put a link to those in your post but I haven't been able to get those pics to appear here.

If you have your pics uploaded on any website already, you usually can make those appear here. Click on the postcard looking icon above where you type here, to the right of the B I U and a script window will appear, asking you to place the image's web address in the box. Do so via cut and paste, then click preview to see if it worked.

Recommended image width for the forum is 640 pixels.

Holler if that doesn't get you there. We would like to see the car
