Does anyone know if there are sources to help you restore a Pontiac?
I am paralyzed and am on disability income only. I own a 1974 SD455 Trans AM that is in deep need of a full restoration. In 1981 I bought the car and drove it for a while. Back then I was not in a wheelchair and did a lot of work on the car and rebuilt the engine. Then the car sat for many years.
It would be really nice to see this car restored to all its glory. I have NO plans to ever sell it. But if a museum paid to restore it, I would let them show it for several years in return. Just a thought.
I hate to see this car just rust away and if I cannot get any help at this time, I will get it done myself one day. Again, it is not for sale.

I know the show is back into production on Velocity and Chip Foose is one of the best at designing and restoration. I've been watching his show for years he's out in Cali

here is what i would do if i were in a wheel chair and did not have the money, resources,or friends to help with the project. sell the car to someone who would spend the money to restore it to better than new condition . make them promise to take you for a ride or to a show when the car is done. take the money buy a nice 74 455 trans am and injoy it!
it takes $30 to $50 grand to restore one right. most i have seen are selling for 70 to 100 grand #1 car, and i herd of a 74sd in bad shape selling for $36,000! think about it very hard do what is right for the car if you can't find a way to restore it. please do not let the car sit and rot. you can make your dream and somebody elses dream come true. good luck!!
p.s. a call to overhaulin could not hurt or a college tech school you would still to find a way to pay for parts and materals.

I agree with Rowsley. Unfortunately for you, disability doesn't mean you get your car restored for free. Sell it like anyone else would, hopefully to a friend. Or watch it rot.

hello mdurham
The Chip Foose thing is a good suggestion however he has a long list of applicants and has cars lined up well in advance plus he wants the owners to be at his shop in irvine for the big reveal. i would still try though, you never know! i hope he does because then i can pop by and check it out. he's 5 minutes from me and he asked us to help him on his boss 302 project before when he got stuck.
rowsley also had a couple good suggestions but i'll add one more. possibly the gas monkey garage guys. yeah i know but it's worth a try. the show could pay for it as a special project and the monkey guys get around $25k each an episode anyway so they might actually not loose money on a project for a change. lol

An old retired guy might help you. Where do you live east west? Sounds like fun to me. The problem is the parts and materials money. If their is a car club around you join up. Can't hurt!
Drive it before your dead!
