Being a GTO enthusiast for many years, I finally came across my garage find GTO.
I currently own a 68 4sp HO GTO and in the mid restoration of my brothers 71. Anyway,
this 69 I came across has the original Ram Air 111 motor. I thought for sure it was
a repainted Judge from many years back. The car itself was completely in pieces, I mean everything. I found 1/3 of the build sheet in the drivers seat, it supported the fact it was a Ram Air 111 car, plus the vin matched on the block. Funny though, after
PHS sent my information back, it was not a Judge but was ordered and built like one.
The build date of the car was March of 69, odd that instead of ordering the Judge package, one would build the car by ordering the options. It included, Ram Air 111,
M21 close ratio, 390 12 bolt rear end, hidden headlights(blacked out grills) hood tach, rear spoiler, ralleye gauges no power steering or brakes and finally Liberty blue on blue. Do I have a gem in the making? Has anyone known of others? I know the
Ram Air 111 was an option, but wouldn't those special ordered be before January and before the Judge package was available? Thoughts?

Interesting...

It could be that the original owner was unable to find the Judge he was looking for at the time, and chose to put it together through the options. If all the local dealerships were sold out, I can see possibly going that route. Or maybe he thought that putting it together through options would be cheaper - although I wouldn't think there would much price difference.

GTOJack, My71, and a few other GTO Heads will probably chime in soon with some useful insight!

Welcome to the forum.

69 gto didn't use 12 bolt diffs.if it is a 12 it's not original but still sounds like an awsome find! maybe original owner wanted judge performance in a stealthier package ie no spoiler or stripes?

Thanks Brazil

I think the same. The car was ordered through Reedman Pontiac in Bristol PA. From what I've read they supplied a lot of muscle cars to their customers. Far place from where it sits now, awaiting my garage to open up in Edmonton Alberta Canada. I appreciate the welcome.

There has been other GTO's like yours there worth almost as much as a Judge .Why they ordered it that way ? All judges were carousel red until mid year . I had a 69  Ram air 4 Judge  that was Gold with black interior ,hood tach ,4 speed ,and it had no stripes or stickers on it but it did have the Judge emblem on the glove box ? Nice find ! The 12 bolt rear  didn't come out until 70 to handle the 455 engine .

Thanks again guys for the welcome. Should have joined long time ago. Gee that Ram Air 1V Judge sounded awfully nice..... After buying the car from the guy here close to where I live, he brought it up from PA. and had the ambition to restore it. It sat since 2004 apart in his garage. Even after all that time, he almost repealed my down payment and wanted to keep the car. Luckily he was happy with its new home and guarantee that i would restore the car and not part it out. I will post some pics later.

The 69 GTO I have now spent it's whole life in PA until I brought it to NJ . It was sold at Davis Pontiac in Richboro PA . The guy I bought it from cried all the way to the bank !

Haha, I guarantee he ain't over it yet. But like all sales, better off going to a good home rather than deteriorating away or sitting idle..... Ironically, in my case the guys wife was skeptical of selling the car.

Hey Mr. 66beaumont u is right on the 12 bolt. I suppose he blowed up the original 10 bolt. What a monster of a rear those 12 bolts are.

Does your 69 GTO still have all the ram air parts that it came with from the factory ?

The pan was gone along with intake and carb, heads and block are original. Included with the parts looks like a holley double pumper and a 69 7029268 rochester. An edlebrock intake was among the parts too. Apparently the young dude from the states was trying to get the car up and running before the guy I bought it off from.... Doh! I had an original pan years ago, gave it to a guy for nothing. The console, hood tach(works too), rear wing were included and original.

Does it have all the hood ram air parts ,scoops ,flapper doors , hood pan . I put all the ram air parts from my gold judge on the GTO I have now . 750 edelbrock carb fits good under the ram air pan .

That sounds like a sweet car!  Maybe the guy ordered it that way because he wanted, essentially, a Judge in a different color besides carousel red.
