swapping out my trunk lid on a 69 Lemans due to rust. The replacement lid has 4 holes for mounting PONTIAC with a solid bar underscore,my original has 14 or so mounting holes with seperate letters and no underscore. What model car did the replacement lid come on?I know somebody here knows the answer without thinking Laugh

Tempest maybe? they only made three models, Tempest, Lemans and GTO.
A little help... 'cause we don't all have to learn the hard way!

Thanks, that was my guess too.Since its not from a Lemans and its not a # matching car I may just see about welding over the mounting holes and go naked.Any comments on the best and longest lasting fix for filling in those holes.

Definitely, welding is the solution.

Might be worth taking to somebody with a TIG welder if it needs to be real nice. If theres not a bunch of rust on the backside, two or three tiny zaps with a MIG is all you need. I like to gently cool the heat warpage from both sides with compressed air, and wait plenty before doing the next hole. Just practice first and find the right settings, you'll be fine.
