Put the hood on it today. The 1969 400 in my '67 Goat is now a 461 stroker. I had the Scat 4.25" crank balanced with the flywheel. It fired immediately on reassembly, idles smooth as silk and is a BEAST when you open it up (coupled to a TKO-600 and 3.55 posi). The purists will probably chide me for using the same cam (Melling Spec 5), heads (Pontiac cast iron #45's) and intake ('75 Pontiac something), but those will be addressed in Phase 2 (roller cam, aluminum air gap intake, and ??? aluminum heads). The shop over-shot the CR a little, I was looking for 9.5:1, but they took the deck down to 0.004", so with the 4.3 cc flat-tops I ended up with 9.7:1. Darn. More Power. When the Qjet secondaries open, it's a real kick in the pants. Can't wait for the 500-mile tranny & gear break-in to be done so I can really tear it up.
