I want to build a pontiac 400 strokes to 461. Around 450+ hp around 5**+ torque is going to be street/freeway driven most the time try the track once in a while maybe road trips very rare. Budget: since im not in hurry buy couple parts here and there....also dont have a 400 block what 400 blocks are the best... i want to get a 69 block cus year of car..but hard to find...what u recommend for the build from oil pan to carburetor?? Thanks streetable to run on 91 octane
Want to use aluminum heads
Check out this thread, you may be surprised to find that you don't need a stroker to get the numbers you are after!http://forums.highperformancepontiac.com/70/8747136/the-general-discussion/dawnas-406-433-build-a-tribute-heaven-can-wait/
A little help... 'cause we don't all have to learn the hard way!
A stock 400 can produce 450 ft. lb. of torque, it easy to get 500.What body are you using?I sent a personal message to you, I do have a 69 400.
Eddy D port heads between 72 and 76 cc.Hyper or forged flat top pistons.ARP rod bolts.Race crank grind.ATI dual inertia ring damper.US made dual roller timing chain.Lunatic Voodoo 60903 cam like Barneyformula shows.Eddy rpm intake.Scorpion rocker arms.Chromoly push rods.Annular carb like 770 holley annular boost venturi vacuum secondary carb or annular quick fuel.Around 3.23 – 3.43 gears. If it’s an auto maybe a 2200 - 2400 rpm stall if you want to get it off the line quick otherwise maybe a 2000 stall.
Ima check it out...so how much more power can a 461 give me ...since ima start with just the block ill be spending about the same...i would love 500++ hp alot more torque
