How To Find HPP Articles On Specific Subjects ?

I'm new here and obviously don't know how things operate. I've tried to find HPP info and past articles about certain subjects by typing the subject into the search block at the top of the page. But every time I do, all I get is a LONG list of HPP articles that don't have a thing to do with the subject I'm searching for. So what is the correct procedure to actually find the articles I want ?

Here's an example. I want to find all the articles I can on performance 350P engine builds. I'm sure HPP did an article on a 350HO rebuild. But when I type in 350 builds all I get is a lot of GTO articles and other stuff that has nothing at all to do with a 350.

Any helpful info on how to access past HPP articles and info will be appreciated.

Thanks !

Ha! Same here. I remember reading a great article with lots of details. It was a couple years ago and in, like, three or four parts. If I ever find anything, I'll let you know.

its complicated...

but there is a tab bar across the top of the search page.. all the way to the Right side it says photos... i have found thats the most useful..  if i used a search term...
http://www.highperformancepontiac.com/sch/02/350/photos/?SearchSource=

there are several more articles that might be of interest..

i put in a search term of 350    searched then clicked the photos tab the link to this article was up first..

http://www.highperformancepontiac.com/tech/hppp_1102_350_ho_engine_build/viewall.html

when you have searched once.. you can pull down the search window where the search term is now.. to either search this magazine.. this group of magazine or the entire website.

hmm..

Thanks Wayne.  That's a helpful hint.  I've had problems myself.  It's not a very inuitively obvious website in general, but content (when you can find it) and the members are the best.

OK, seeing the title of the article, I typed in "350 HO engine build". The 1st thing on the list was "421 HO Tri-power Engine build". I checked out 3 pages of results--no 350 article. Interesting.  Confused

I'll try to see if I can call up another article I remember, using the method you described. If I can't make it work, I may have to get further clarification of the procedure.

THANKS !

OK, I entered 1970 nhra b/sa firebird in the white box and clicked on "Search High Performance Pontiac".

Here's what I got back--a message which said "enter valid characters".

There was an article about a '70 Bird that ran B/SA with a RA4 motor.  So, how do you get to the search page you showed in the link which has the tab bar across the top with the word "photos" over to the right side ?   Confused

I've clicked on "Search", "Search High Performance Pontiac" and "Advanced Search".
But I have yet to find a search page with the tab bar across the top, with the word photos on the right side. The ONLY place I've seen a page like this is on the link you posted.

More help please !   Thanks  !    Smile

I'm willing to agree that the site's search feature leaves much to be desired. Google is your friend-

http://www.highperformancepontiac.com/tech/hppp_0712_small_bore_pontiac_engine_build/viewall.html

Will an article from a sister magazine work?

http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/672hp_pontiac_350s/

Theres just not much excitement here, about the little injuns.

The '70 RA4 Bird B/SA stocker I mentioned is a 400, not a 350. I remember the article well. But can't remember where I saw it. May not even be in HPP--can't remember.

PLEASE tell me how I can get myself to a search page like the one you posted with the bars across the top and the word "photos" in the far top right hand corner !

And thanks for the link to other mag, but I had already found that one.

THANKS !

Hey that pic search HPP page was Wayne. I hadn't seen that before but I clicked it and said to myself where am I? It was cool because there was a 69 GP custom there.

Wayne, where ya at?

I'll nudge him if he doesn't find this soon because inquiring minds want to know.

My engine builder has a GP project going, among many others. I think it's an SSJ--maybe a '70 model ? He's got 2 cars to make one from. The last time I was over at his place, he had the body off and was workin on the frame. But he's so busy building motors, I don't know if he will ever finish the GP or not.   Confused

70 SSJ =  Cool

Got two myself. Big ones, that is. Wait that sounded wrong. But right. Three little ones too. I have considered yanking and restoring the 72 chassis then doing the ol swaperoo with the 69, for minimized down time. That could be a swift plan if I ever had the means to bust a move and improve what I got.

Here is another 350 build.,. if you follow Wayne's instructions by typing 350 in "Search High Performance Pontiac" at top right of page, click the blue bar then a new window opens up.,. now,,,(click on "Photos" and/or "All" located on the far left),,,, you get a few more articles.

I thought it might be a great idea to make this thread "Sticky".,. it should help others, to find what they're looking for.

OK, I tried a new search for "Truman Fields". I hit the blue bar, then the "all" bar, then the "photos" bar. I got nothing even close to Truman Fields. So I tried again. This time I entered "Truman Fields' Hard Times Firebird". This time I got a pop up box which said "enter valid characters..."   Frown

So what am I doing wrong ? Truman Fields was one of my early Pontiac heros. He won a lot of races with his '68 Dark green Bird. I think I remember one issue of HPP where the car is pictured on the cover(or inside for sure) doing a nice wheelie. It was included in one of the  "pavement pounders shootouts" if I remember correctly. Hey I could have the wrong mag. Anything is possible I suppose.   Confused
