Hi Guys!
I have a 455 4 speed 70 GTO. When I purchased the car, it had an oil leak. The rear main rope seal was leaking, so I had it replaced with another rope seal. After several hundred miles, the leak reappeared. I then had the rope seal replaced with a 2 piece viton seal. Again the leak reappeared after several hundred miles. Can someone please offer me advice on what I can do to stop this continueing problem?

Also, is it recommended polishing the searations off the crank shaft when using a non rope seal?

Thanks in advance,
jkell

I just used a one piece seal from Butler about 6 weeks ago, it hasn't leaked a drop since.  I left the sarations  on the crank with no problems.
