Hello,,, does anyone know a way to put on the fender vents on a 72 gto fender, with the fender on the car, cant seem to find a way to get to the fastening nuts in back ? just had the car painted so trying to do it with out scratching the car,,, thanks...
Welcome. I don't know but I'll give it a shot-If you can get the wheelhouse loose enough, that might get you in. Maybe take the bottom fender bolt out too. Maybe the one in the door jamb too, up high. But all that risks paint scratching. Are there threads on the posts? If not, maybe you can use barrel nuts or whatever they are called. The tiny metal inserts that snap into the hole and pinch the stud when inserted. Everything has to be just right for those though. They were popular for attaching die cast nameplates.Would attachment tape work? I am imagining the two vertical looking vent deal behind the wheel, but I haven't had one off myself. If it uses stamped nuts, you'll either have to tape it on or do some disassembly to get at the studs.
The fender vents are painted the same color as the car why were they off the car .How did you get them off ? Did you have the fenders off took the vents off then put the fenders back on without installing the fender vents ? You could take the wheel wells off .
The vents have threaded studs on them with little nuts. The reason they were off is because the screens needed to be fixed and there painted black so the vents were painted off the car then the screens were painted and then put on the vents. Thanks for all the ideas I'm going to try the inner fender wells or UN bolting the Lowe fenders and getting in that way,,thks.
