They used to have 94 (for five bucks) and 104 here, now its 93 and 98 ...

Back in the day we used Sunoco 260, 104 oct I think. Are they bringing it back? I know a lot more stations are selling race fuel. Oh, back then 260 was a whopping .98 a gal.

Well, you tell us Rob. Did you see any Sunoco stations in your travels? Its a long way to the nearest drag strip and I'm not sure why this place is smack in the middle of econo-SUV central. 91 octane premium is all anybody else here has. I fed a snort of the sweet stuff to the GTP and it was strutting around like a banty rooster with no knock retard going on.

I remember a day when gas and smokes were both 75 cents. Seems like it was around '82, before corn squeezin's "gained popularity". Remember the term "gasohol" from the 70s? Wonder why nobody says that now.

I saw one Sunoco station thru-out the whole US.
I don't think anybody knows what's in their gas. Confused
Warning to People with diesels: There's a gas station out there that has a green handled fill nozzle but its not diesel. I've heard about a lot of uh-oh's.

ID, one good thing about draggin mommas car around is it still only has 28,000 on the clock. Pretty good for a 2012 that we got in June 2011.

thats crazy 7.60 for a gallon of 98. matt i've been to that station with jam.

i have a friend with a machine shop. he sells fuel with very little mark up so the guys that he builds race motors for will have good fuel! i will ask what the prices are these days.

Wasn't gasohol methanol as opposed to the ethanol that's in today's fuels?  Anyways; if you don't mind mixing fuels, a good blend is to mix 100LL (from the airport) 50/50 with regular gas.  The 100LL (low lead) has 4 grams of lead per gallon, so when you mix it 50/50 with regular gas you end up with 2 grams of lead per gallon, which is just what the old leaded premium used to have.  And the mix seems quite stable (I've had it sit in gas tanks for years and still be fine) without having to put STABILE in it.

Man ... theres a small airport across the highway from the shop ... hmmm

Methanol? Maybe that was the difference. Somehow that word gets more socially acceptable when you drop the M, maybe thats why they push ethanol now instead, ha. I just saw an article where some turbo'ed JYD LS cat is funneling water/meth through a garden hose.

For what its worth, recently I did have the occasion to salvage the gas from my November wreck. It burnt just fine. 91 octane E10, a full tank's worth. My July wreck still cranks right up too, with about 9 month old 89 E10 in it. Neither one smells old yet. We have a T-bird in the shop, man that thing must have had five year old gas in it ... thats a familiar stench at the classic and kustom place, whew!

The "M" may have been dropped because it carries a certain connotation of it's own. I would expect it to make your car go faster...

M-22, my mother's 1978 Cadillac Eldorado (425cu) always drank a 50/50 avaition & ethal combo. They had a small airport so it was cheap go go juice.
